Milwaukee woman lowers her charge by agreeing to plea deal

Milwaukee, Wisconsin resident Rasheda Ross, who had recently been charged with criminal conspiracy and human trafficking, will not have to serve additional jail time after striking a plea deal with the prosecution, automatically reducing her Class A felony conspiracy to commit theft of property charge to a Class C level and her Class A human trafficking felony charge to a Class A misdemeanor promoting prostitution charge.

Prosecuting attorneys said Ross and another woman were taken into police custody for extorting $65,000 from a victim who is a native of Williston, North Dakota. Ross’ legal counsel said Ross did not plan the orchestration of the crime, but that she, along with the person being extorted, were both victimized by the other woman who was arrested.
