Milwaukee woman accused of stabbing a man not charged with crime

A 32-year-old Milwaukee woman accused of stabbing 38-year-old Eric Franklin in the 5100 block of N. Teutonia Avenue will not be charged with a crime. Authorities have concluded that the June 15 stabbing was an act of self-defense.

Other Milwaukee crimes with new information include the shooting death of 40-year-old Melody Helgren on Thursday, June 16. A 52-year-old Milwaukee man is expected to be charged for her death by the district attorney’s office. Two homicide victims were also discovered by the police last Sunday, June 19. One of them was 29-year-old Remone Reed, who was shot in the 4100 block of N. 49th Street around 8:30 a.m. Officials have yet to pinpoint a suspect in the case. The other victim was identified as 35-year-old Lamont Shields, who was stabbed in the 3800 block of W. Roberts Street.
