Sheboygan man convicted for role in drug trafficking
30-year-old Sheboygan, Wisconsin local Randy Martinez, who also goes by the alias Robin Lee Martinez, was sentenced to spend more than 10 years in jail for his role in a complex drug cartel that smuggled cocaine and marijuana from Texas to Wisconsin, including Manitowoc County, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office issued on Tuesday, December 10.
Balderas was a member of the so-called Balderas Organization, which allegedly brought 10 pounds of cocaine and more than a thousand pounds of marijuana to Wisconsin, including the Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties and their surrounding areas.
The group operated by loading a car with hidden drugs and following the car that carried the cargo to make sure the load arrives at its destination. The cars usually contained less than 50 pounds of marijuana, because it is common practice for Texas law enforcers to confiscate the drug at that small amount and release the carrier without filing charges.
