Wisconsin homeless man beats up another homeless man, charged with murder

A 31-year-old homeless man is set to be examined to determine his competency after he murdered another homeless man in Madison, Wisconsin.

Justin Brooks was indicted with first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly killing 61-year-old Robert Kuntz by pummeling him with a table leg on June 18 in Capitol Square near the Wisconsin State Capitol.

Assistant State Public Defender Jon Helland said that Brooks will undergo a psychiatric evaluation to assess if he understands the gravity of his crime and the charges against him, and to determine whether he can help with his defense, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

Brooks was assigned a bail of $105,000 and will remain in jail unless bail is posted.
