Driver who hit pedestrians charged with vehicular manslaughter
Earlier this month, a driver involved in a pedestrian accident in Milwaukee was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. The suspect has three previous drunk driving convictions.
The accident occurred at S. 14th St. and W. Greenfield Ave. when the 41-year old driver of a pickup truck struck two pedestrians crossing the street. One of the pedestrians, 49, was killed in the accident. Her son, 20, suffered serious injuries in the pedestrian accident.
In addition to the vehicular homicide charge, the driver faces 7 other counts in the accident.
Witnesses to the accident called the police and officers found the suspect fleeing on foot in the Milwaukee River. The man was taken to the police station and tests revealed he had a blood alcohol concentration of .206 percent.
