Milwaukee Sex Offender Facing Felony Charges for Parole Violation
A Milwaukee sex offender was arrested for violating probation Monday.
According to officials with the Wauwatosa Police Department, 26 year-old two-time sex offender Tristan Harris was arrested Monday at his home in the 2200 block of 73rd Street. Harris was arrested for being in violation of his parole after he removed his monitoring ankle bracelet. Police were alerted by a tampering alarm that Harris had removed his GPS-enabled bracelet at 11:32 a.m.
A monitoring specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Correction said removing the device takes substantial force and likely tools.
Police say Harris told them he didn’t like wearing the bracelet and had been pulling on the device for a year to remove it. The GPS specialist asked that police arrest Harris. In 2009, Harris was sentenced to wear a GPS-enabled monitoring bracelet for his lifetime so that law enforcement officers can track his location.
Harris is now being held in Milwaukee County Jail. He is not eligible for bail. He faces a possible felony charge of tampering with a Global Positioning System device.
