Man Arrested with Firearm Outside Milwaukee Courthouse

A man displaying a firearm was arrested Tuesday, outside the Milwaukee County Courthouse, following an altercation between the families of the victim and defendant in a homicide case.

According to Milwaukee Police Department spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz, a 26 year-old man was arrested on a gun charge after allegedly brandishing a weapon while sitting in a car at N. 10th and W. State streets. Prior to his arrest, the man had been removed from a courtroom for shouting during a victim impact statement by a relative of Donte Lamar Dyson.

Dyson, 21, was shot to death while running from two men who attempted to rob him in November 2009.

Demetrius M. Thompson,22, and Michael L. Moore, 20, were charged with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with the killing.

The name of the man arrested outside the courthouse has not been released. His connection to the homicide case is unknown.
