Man Arrested After Shooting at Off-Duty Officer

Police have arrested a Milwaukee man after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and shot at an off-duty officer.

According to officials with the Milwaukee Police Department, witnesses say the 19 year-old man beating a woman shortly after noon Friday. The man showed a gun before he ran away from the scene, police say.

Witnesses called police and an off-duty officer. When the man saw the off-duty officer, the suspect shot at him and hit his vehicle. The suspect and the officer exchanged more gunfire but no one was injured.

Another off-duty officer saw the suspect running and caught him. On duty officers then took the man to jail, according to police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz.
