34 Milwaukee DUI/OWI Arrests Over Labor Day Weekend
Police arrested 34 drivers on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated over the Labor Day weekend.
According to officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department, deputies and suburban police arrested 34 drivers on suspicion of OWI over the three day weekend. The arrests came as part of a combined effort between suburban police and the Sheriff’s department. Authorities say that Sheriff David Clarke ordered an extra 18 patrols during the weekend.
According to the department, no one has been killed in a drunk driving crash on Milwaukee County Freeways in 2010, compared to five deaths by Labor Day weekend in 2009 and 5 in 2008.
Police say 203 citations were issued during the weekend.
