Tear Gas Ends 6-Hour Standoff

Milwaukee police used tear gas to end a six-hour standoff and arrest a man suspected of robbing a bank on the south side Tuesday.
According to Milwaukee Police Department investigators Jeff Thiele and Glenn Podlesnik, a bank was robbed on the Milwaukee’s south side Tuesday shortly after 2:00 p.m. by a man from West Allis. Police say investigators tracked the suspect to a house in the 2300 block of South 54th St. and attempted to arrest the man.

Milwaukee Police Captain Aaron Raap said the suspect refused to leave the house, which was surrounded by police from Milwaukee and West Allis. Raap said Milwaukee tactical enforcement units deployed tear gas into the house at approximately 8:00 p.m. and arrested the suspect.

There were no injuries in the raid.
