President Bush Signs Copyright Infringement Bill

Washington, DC–On October 13, President Bush signed into law a new copyright infringement bill that makes punishment for copyright infringement more severe and provides law enforcement with more resources to fight copyright infringement.

The bill came in response to pressure and/or support of business groups and businesses that seek the combat the $250 billion in losses sustained (by the recording industry) every year.

Despite the support of many businesses and business owners, some people feel that the bill is too extreme and violates some people’s rights.
