Milwaukee City and County officials recently made partial juvenile probation records available to the Milwaukee Police Department. Authorities decided to make the change after reviewing the juvenile justice system and finding that some serious crimes could have been prevented if they had more information.

Police will now have immediate access to juveniles' full names, conditions of probation, warrant information, and prior police contacts. The change also means that probation officers can be notified more quickly if a juvenile comes into contact with police while on probation.

Mayor Barrett's office says more changes to juvenile justice in Milwaukee will be coming in the near future.
