In 2005, Lena Driskell of Atlanta, GA was convicted of killing her boyfriend Herman Winslow when she suspected him of seeing other women. She used an antique handgun in the assault, shooting him up to four times. She was 78 at the time; Winslow was 85.
Last Friday Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville agreed to let Driskell have a new trial, saying that her previous attorneys did not adequately defend her in court. Driskell originally tried to plead not guilty by reason of insanity, but was given a life sentence.
