This Monday, a trial in Milwaukee began and brought to light questions on gun rights in the state. The case concerns a 24-year old man who is being charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree intentional homicide.
The man was involved in a shooting last year that resulted in the death of a 29-year old man who was leaving a bar located near his house. A 22-year old man was also injured in the shooting.
According to the defendant, he shot the two men in self defense. After the shooting, he called police to report the incident. The defendant is a well-known "open carry" advocate in Wisconsin. Next month, a new law will go into effect in the state which allows for the carrying of concealed weapons.
