The state’s largest Martin Luther King Day celebration, the 15th Annual Dr. King, Jr. Breakfast, was held at the Frontier Airlines Center in downtown Milwaukee. Around 700 people attended the breakfast on Monday morning to honor the legendary civil rights leader.
Notable guests included Governor Scott Walker, Mayor of Milwaukee Tom Barrett, and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. Every year at the breakfast, an organization is awarded for their commitment to service in the community.
This year, both Independence First and the Brewers Community Foundation were recognized. Awards were given by the Milwaukee YMCA.
