University of Wisconsin-La Crosse sentenced for rape, sexual assault

A 20-year-old University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student has been sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of rape and sexual assault.

The student, John Lattimore, was found guilty of raping an 18-year-old student in his dorm room last year. After a three day trial, Lattimore was convicted of second-degree sexual assault and false imprisonment. However, the La Crosse County jury on his case found him not guilty of sexually assaulting a second student.

According to La Crosse County Circuit Judge Todd Bjerke, Lattimore will serve eight more years on extended supervision once his seven year prison sentence is complete. A third student has also accused Lattimore of sexually assaulting her while they were dancing at a party. He will face trial in January for that charge.
