Crime Increases with Heat

by Administrator 26. June 2009 03:24

With the summer months starting to begin,  crime will likely begin to increase.  In a phenomenon that has been shown to occur,  crime and violence tends to go up during warm weather.  The basic explanation for this strange phenomenon is that individuals get more upset, agitated, and angry during hot weather.  The hot weather is the match that lights a fuse for many people, and has caused sometimes timid individuals to lash out aggressively.

Law enforcement typically try and step up their enforcement  efforts during the summer weather in preparation for a slight increase in criminal activity.

Officers Shot, Suspect Arrested

by Administrator 10. June 2009 07:47

Tuesday afternoon in Walkers Point a man opened fire on two police officers.  The man shot the officers several times, and then fled into a house.  At this point,  a stand-off occurred as the man hid in the basement of the house as the homeowners were upstairs not knowing the situation.

Once the homeowners saw the police and made contact with them outside the house,  did they advance and arrest the suspect.  According to reports, the suspect initially admitted to the shooting of the officers.  The officers that were shot are expected to recover and do not have life threatening injuries.

Charges Possible for Security Guard

by Administrator 5. June 2009 04:55

A security guard who shot and killed one robber, and shot and injured another, may face possible charges.

The man  shot two individuals as they attempted to rob a store which he was working for.

Police did not arrest the guard after the incident,  but the man must meet with the District Attorney.  The ultimate decision if charges will be pressed is up to the District Attorney.  Charges could still be possible even if the man acted in self-defense.

The guard has no past criminal record, carried the gun legally, and has fully cooperated with authorities after the shooting.
