Some University of Wisconsin Students Experience Harassment

by Administrator 18. December 2008 06:12

An 87-question assessment of tolerance and general climate on University of Wisconsin campuses has found that even though most students feel comfortable, a significant number have been harassed because of their sexual orientation, gender, race, or ethnicity.  Although a self-selected sample of 13,469 students took the survey, university officials still feel that it gives some insight into the tolerance climate across the campuses.

The survey was given to a set of the University of Wisconsin campuses, with the other campuses to offer the survey later.  From all of the first-batch of campuses that took the survey, 72% to 87% felt comfortable of on campus.  Moreover, 287 females, or 2.1% of the survery takers, said that they had been sexually assaulted.  Most of them had not reported the assault to authorities. Harassment and intimidation are criminal offenses.

If you feel that you have targeted with violent behavior or words because of your gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other personal characteristic, contact the Milwaukee criminal defense lawyers of Kohler & Hart, LLP at 888-565-7587.

Milwaukee Sees Imbalanced Crimes Rates on Colleges

by Administrator 13. December 2008 09:12
Two colleges in Milwaukee reveal the large difference in crime rates affecting them.  Marquette University has seen 4 armed robberies since May, while the University of Wisonconsin--Milwaukee has seen 24 armed robberies in the same period of time. Both campuses have taken action to help reduce and prevent crime.  Combined, they send out e-mail messages to students, have police officers patrolling the campus,  and have installed security cameras on campus as well.  Moreover, students have also played their part by staying in large numbers more often. Preventing crime is a group effort.  If you have been charged with a crime, contact the Milwaukee criminal defense attorneys of Kohler & Hart by calling 414-271-9595 or by going to their website.

Man Faces Charges in Hiring Murderers

by Administrator 1. December 2008 08:12
A New York man has been charged with paying $8,000 to three people to murder his business partner.  The man pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.  One of the three people hired, the individual who was to carry out the killing, also pleaded not guilty. Initially, there were only charges of second-degree murder because it was believed that the man had died in a robbery gone wrong.  However, another individual, one of the three involved, testified that the New York man had offered to pay for having his partner killed. If you have bee charged with any crime, contact the Milwaukee criminal defense attorneys.  They can be reached via phone at 414-271-9595 or via their website.
